This is a 1998 Gibson Custom Shop 1958 R8 Reissue Les Paul Standard in a lovely heavily flamed Honeyburst.
What a looker of the guitar this one is. The top on this is pretty epic if you ask us. The late 90s Custom Shop models are brilliant. The 58s from 1998 and the 59s from 1999 as basically Anniversary models so they often have amazing tops. The 90s stuff is very well made too. (Just look up asking prices on R9s from 99 - Jawdropping!)
These early Custom Shop models are awesome. The Custom Shop was using Classic 57s in their guitars back then and im convinced the 90s Classic 57s are different to the modern ones as they sound so much better to my ears.
Even though this is badged as an R8 its got a R9 neck on it. Slim to medium. Not anywhere near the modern R7/8 necks that we have these days.
This one has been well used and has a lovely worn in feeling neck. It has picked up some tasteful playwear over its years which is just damn cool.
The aging on this is pretty cool. Its a natural version of what the Murphy Lab are trying to do right now.

This comes with the original hardcase and a hangtag as shown.
Condition
This is in great condition for its age.
Light surface marks from use as expected.
As its a well played guitar, the front has a fair few small bumps and dings.
The back has lots of buckle rash. Some nicks as shown.
The sides are the same.
A lovely amount of wear on the back of the neck.
Some nicks on the edges of the headstock
The frets are in great condition with minimal wear.
The electrics have been fully tested and working perfectly.
